Static vs Dynamic Content

In Ski Club Pro sites, content is divided into two categories: Static and Dynamic. Knowing which one to use ensures your site stays organized and reduces the amount of manual updating you have to do.

What is Static Content?

Static content is "one-and-done" information. It lives on a single page and doesn't move or change unless you manually edit that specific page.

  • When to use it: For information that rarely changes and doesn't need to appear in other lists or sections of the site.
  • The "Edit" Rule: If you go to a page, click Edit, and see all the text and images right there in the body field, that is static content.
  • Examples: An "Our History" page, a "Contact Us" page, or a basic "About the Club" description.

What is Dynamic Content?

Dynamic content is information that is stored as a specific Content Type (like a Program or a Profile) and "pulled" onto other pages automatically based on rules or filters.

  • When to use it: For information that needs to live in multiple places. You create it once, and the system displays it wherever it belongs.
  • The "Edit" Rule: If you are looking at a page (like a team list) but when you click Edit you don't see the team members in the text box, that content is dynamic. It is being pulled from elsewhere.
  • Examples: * Profiles: You create a staff profile for "Coach Smith" once. He then automatically appears on the "Meet the Coaches" page AND the "FIS Team" page because he is tagged to both.
